Our electronic services include:

Check Engine Light
No one likes to see their car's "Check Engine" light come on. The light could mean a costly problem, like a bad catalytic converter, or it could be something minor, like a loose gas cap. At Ernie's Local Automotive Service, we can pull the code and diagnose the problem for you. Give us a call at 773-763-4488 or stop by the shop for our expert assistance.

Computer
Today, car manufacturers include at least one computer in motor vehicles. This computer's main function is to monitor and adjust engine and transmission operations. The computer receives input information from different sensors. The computer controls spark plugs, idle speed, and fuel injectors so as to get you the best possible car performance. Failure of the car computer will greatly affect the things it controls. To get the most out of your car's computer, have it evaluated regularly for updates and proper operation. If it is already failing, have it repaired or replaced. To have your car's computer handled by experts, visit Ernie's Local Automotive Service in Chicago, IL 60656 today.

Computer Reflashing
Ernie's Local Automotive Service has state-of-the-art equipment to provide computer reflashing to our customers in the Chicago area. The primary reason to reflash a computer (which basically means updating or reinstalling its software) is that an update has been issued by the manufacturer. It's a very simple procedure, and there may be minor updates that the car hasn't had. The manufacturer may have tweaked the transmission-shifting algorithm or some other parameters that are not crucial but may bring slight improvements to drivability, mileage or emissions. Since auto manufacturers are coming out with automobile updates every day, there may be a reprogram available for your vehicle. Stop by Ernie's Local Automotive Service or call us at 773-763-4488 to schedule an appointment!

reviewiconEngine & Transmission, near Chicago, Illinois

I have a 2007 Chevy Trailblazer with a 5.3. The DOD lifters failed and wiped the camshaft. I had a Jasper Engine many years ago so I looked up for Installers and found that Ernie's is an installer. I took it there and Ernie's installed the Jasper engine with DOD delete and I couldn't be happier. It came with a 3 year, 100,000 mile warranty on parts and labor. Now, I doubt that I will get to the 100,000 mile part of the warranty but I will be keeping this vehicle for at least 3 years or give it to one of my Grandsons. While removing the old engine, they found that my control arm bushings were falling apart. No surprise. They were the originals and the vehicle had 171,000 miles on the odometer. I gave them the go ahead and they fixed it to my satisfaction. I now have almost 175,000 miles on it and I enjoy driving it more than my 2015 Tahoe... I couldn't be happier... Do I recommend Ernie's???? Yes, I do...
